Heat Staking The World Together

Metal and Plastic Heat Staking in Manufacturing and Assembly
By: James A. Warholic

Ever see the insides of a cell phone and wonder how it is assembled? How about the small metal battery compartments inside hi-tech toys? Ever taken apart the miniature memory modules that go in digital cameras? These products and others such as keyboards, laptop computers, cordless phones, SIMM cards, PCMCIA card modules, automotive parts, and even the remote controls are assembled with what is known as the heat staking process.

Heat Staking Process

When a manufacture wants to join metal-to-metal or plastics-to-metal via small plastic posts that protrude from the plastic housing a heat staking machine is used to apply controlled heat, time, and pressure through a heat staking head. Typically the head is heated up to a controlled temperature. Once heated to the proper temperature depending on the types of metals and plastics being staked, the head makes contact with the protruding plastic posts and are formed into various types of heat staked posts. Staked post types include: Flat, Profile, Dome, Hollow, Cross-Shaped, and Rosette Posts.

When an entire plastic side needs to be formed into a plastic lip to hold a metal device, glass lens, or another plastic assembly in place, this process is referred to as side swaging.

The heat staking process is found in the following sectors: aerospace, industrial, medical, dental, automotive, semiconductor, electrical, appliance, telecommunications, fixtures, electronics, house-wares, cellular, communications, memory module units, sporting equipment, PCB connector, PDAs, LCD connectors, computers, and more. Just about every type of manufacturing industry uses some form of heat staking to assemble their products.

Heat Stake Machines (Thermal Presses)

The equipment used for heat staking comes in a wide variety of types and styles. The heat stake machines are sometimes referred to as thermal presses. Many of these thermal press machines are custom made to accommodate various product sizes and product lines. Tooling can be custom designed to allow for various manufactured parts to be assembled via heat staking from one machine. Simply remove one tooling setup and interchange it with another.

Ultrasonic Staking Machines

Ultrasonics is also another form of product assembly, but due to the new tighter tolerance size constraints of the miniature products and the larger size head design requirements for ultrasonics to function properly, and typically a slower throughput with ultrasonic assembly equipment, more manufactures are heading to the heat staking machines route for their mass production parts and products assemblies. A key advantage is that heat staking heads (the portion of the equipment that makes contact with the plastic piece) can be designed to incorporate very small multi-point contacts to speed up the mass production assembly process. In essence, you can have a dozen or more contacts all making contact at the same time on a very small assembly component, and quickly stake the entire assembly all in one cycle.

Heat Sealing Machines

The same machines used for heat staking can also be used for the heat sealing process. For example, when LCD display units need to be applied to a circuit board assembly, a special conductive heat activated glue-like adhesive is activated with a heat press machine. For an example of how a heat staking and heat sealing machine and head function for a cell phone or memory module see YouTube for heat staking and heat sealing videos.

The heat staking process is known for its outstanding repeatability in the mass production environment. Heat staked joints in the miniature world of plastics assembly can withstand the rigors of vibration of heavy daily use of the assembled products. The process is also known for the mega machines that are involved in the large format automotive sector. Dashboard covers, door panels, and even the dashboard assemblies themselves are assembled with these mega heat staking machines.

No doubt about it, we live in a mass production heat staked world.

What Really Is The ODP – Open Directory Project – DMoz

The Open Directory Project
By: James A. Warholic

The Open Directory Project (ODP), also known as DMoz (for Directory.Mozilla, the domain name of ODP), is a multilingual open content directory of World Wide Web links owned by Time Warner that is constructed and maintained by a community of volunteer editors. www.answers.com/topic/open-directory-project

Has The Dmoz ODP Outlived Its Usefulness?
This is not going to be a very neutral article.

The Open Directory Project sounded like a good idea at the time but as with any project that starts off with good intentions as being a directory built by people for the people has in my estimation become a closed club with built in prejudice against adding new members. Many others on the Internet are improving their websites, are they improving theirs?

I have read many stories about the number of times that new people have submitted their sites to the project with never hearing a word of response back from any editor at the directory project.

I can tell you from personal experience with submission to the project that over the past three years and the many times that I have submitted, never once have I received a reply from an editor or staff member. I have written to various editors and staff members and have not so much as gotten a reply of any type. I had followed all of the rules to a tee; making sure the proper category was selected and the Title and Description was properly written. After not hearing from them after several months I re-submitted and re-submitted again after that with the same blank response. See Important Note Below.

They tell you should only submit one time.

You should submit your site to the single most appropriate category that is directly relevant to your site’s content. Please only submit your site one time. The ODP editors reserve the right to use their editorial discretion to determine which category or categories your site will ultimately be placed.

How to suggest a site to the Open Directory

Well, after a year and not hearing anything back the first time, I figured that was a long enough period of time to hold off before submitting again. How long do you have to wait before hearing a no response the second time?

Depending on the activity level of the editors in your area, it may take up to 2 weeks or more for your site to be reviewed.

2 weeks or more. How much more?

They say not to be upset if your site is not accepted and it is totally up to the discretion of the editors and staff to approve a site.

We don’t accept all sites, so please don’t take it personally should your site not be accepted. Our goal is to make the directory as useful as possible for our users, not to have the directory include all (or even most) of the sites that could possibly be listed or serve as a promotional tool for the entities listed.

Their goal is to make the directory as useful as possible. Come on, how useful is the directory when it has categories that never grow or change or add to the listed sites. Are we to assume that these original sites are the caretakers on the Internet?

A few categories have the Add URL link disabled, and don’t list or accept submissions.

They say adding a site is easy. Right, give me a break. They should say submitting a site is easy but adding a site to our ODP directory is one of the most difficult things on the Internet, especially if you happen to be in a highly competitive Web field such as Internet Marketing and Online Advertising and we choose to exclude you from our directory no matter how much online quality content you have.

The truth is, the ODP has sites that have not changed in substance and design for years. Additionally many of the sites listed in the ODP have not even added any new content to their websites in years. Take a look at the Internet Archive Way Back Machine to view sites when they first went online. Many have not updated their copyright dates and the Google cache results show that they do not even know how to properly set their titles and descriptions in their meta tags.

Look at the Internet Marketing Proof

Internet Marketing: Marketing Services

Let’s look at three case studies listed on the ODP 11/26/05.

Listen, sorry first off to the following business websites that I am going to talk about. But, I am going to tell it like it is and because I know the editors at the ODP could remove these sites after they read this, and I hope that does not occur, but that is why I have included an image of the results on the date stated as a proof of what is going on. If the following sites should also correct the items listed below I will be more than happy to write an article about how a business had improved their website design. Additionally, let me say that no one is perfect in their approach to Internet marketing and online advertising. Everyone has a unique trademark style and I do not really relish the thought of exposing the ODP in this way.

A3 Business Solutions – Case Study #1

The web address url is: a3businesssolutions.com
The following is the screen capture for A3 Business Solutions

First off we can tell from the captured image of the website that the last time the copyright was updated was 2003.

Next let us take a look at all the Google pages for the site.
To perform this test simply type the following in the Google Search bar site:a3businesssolutions.com

Google Search Results

It is simple to see from this illustration that the site has 6 pages displayed of approximately 8 total pages.

One more test to be performed and that will tell us how the pages have changed over the years. To perform this test simply go to the Internet Archive Way Back Machine and type in the website: a3businesssolutions.com To view how the pages have changed very little over the years with very little new content simply click on the various links and the proof is in the pudding.

Case study #1 critique

The category is Internet Marketing. This is not some fly by night category. Any site listed in this category should have everything in place. To have a site like this without proper copyrights, very little content, and to have changed very little over the life of this business is not only a poor reflection of the business but is also a poor reflection over the ODP editors and ODP project in general.

Let’s move on.

Aabstract Communications – Case Study #2

The web address url is: aabstract.com
The following is the screen capture for Aabstract Communications

First off this site is set up as an all Flash site. To see how many pages are listed in Google for this site we can perform the same test using Google Search, site:aabstract.com. According to the search engine results pages there are about 13 pages listed for this company.

We will also take a look at the archives for this website.

Case study #2 critique

From an Internet Marketing standpoint using an all Flash website is not the most practical in terms of getting properly indexed by the search engines. Search engines need to have body text in the pages, not graphic representations of text. Most well respected experts all agree that this type of site design is a detriment to SEO, Search Engine Optimization. From the results listed in the Google Search we can see several pages where the Titles and Descriptions simply do not make any sense. We see a couple of pages with Titles as “Untitled Document” as the actual text of the page in the Google Search results. How much sense does this make from an Online Advertising and Internet Marketing perspective to have this type of title? Don’t forget, this is an Internet marketing, Online advertising, and Web branding company. Is this going to do their customers justice if an all Flash site is designed for their clients?

Aactivate – Case Study #3

The web address url is: aactivate.com
The following is the screen capture for Aactivate

According to their last copyright was 2004 on the home page and 2003 on the contact page and others.

Google Search results for: site:aactivate.com

Google Search Results

According to the Google algorithm, 5 pages were displayed for a total of about 17 pages that are similar. Additionally, take a look at the Internet Archive Way Back Machine results for aactivate.com.

Case study #3 critique

First impressions from a technical nature have to do with the first clue being the copyright date. I could understand if one or two pages of a hundred page website had the wrong copyright dates listed. Even a site that was a couple of months into the new year, but not having proper copyrights that are nearly three years behind is just not paying attention to details. Additionally, this is less than a 20 page website, and it should be a piece of cake to update the pages. Second clue to something that is wrong is the Google Search Engine results showing very little quality content in the displayed results for the company. There is some underlying problem within the pages to produce these types of results. The third clue that something is not quite right has to do with the archive listings, which in fact show very little changes over the past four years.

Internet Marketing ODP Overview

I took the very first three results from the Internet marketing category at the Open Directory Project. I did not pick and chose the sites just so I could say some derogatory comments but I did it with online proof, and simply started at the top and went down the line.

The Open Directory Project has a problem. Why there is a problem could be debated for a long time with many different perspectives. But, just looking at the top three case studies from this one category shows something is not being done properly. The top three sites provide very little in the way of relevant content. How this fits in the overall caring about quality and what the ODP prides itself in is beyond me.

We care a great deal about the quality of the ODP. We aren’t a search engine and pride ourselves on being highly selective.

Well, they certainly are highly selective. Maybe there just is a little too much pride going on here. I am not sure if this can really get cleaned up. I am sure that other parts of the ODP fail in much the same way as the Internet marketing one does.

ODP Note Discovered In Forum:

How long should I wait before I resubmit?
The simple answer is “forever”.

The ODP submission guidelines used to say to do it every month, but this has been rendered unnecessary by changes in how the ODP works. Once a submission has been received, it will never go away. It will sit in that category, awaiting review. Submissions do not expire.

So the preferred method is now to suggest the site to the category and wait at least a month. If, after a month, the site has not appeared, then feel free to submit one more time only. Please note that a new submission to the same category overwrites the previous one. Editors have many ways of sorting the pool of unreviewed sites in a category and one of them is by submission date. If this is the case, then a resubmission will show up further down the list and may end up taking longer to get reviewed.

Internet Search Engine Statistics

Published Search Engine Use Statistics

From a standpoint of Internet Marketing and Search Engines Use Statistics there are some interesting nuggets of information to be gleaned from a couple of online studies comparing the Top search engines.

Nielsen Net Ratings had a published report released in August 2005.

Nielsen//NetRatings Releases Top 10 Search Engine Share Rankings for July 2005

Table 1: Top 10 Search Engines Ranked by Search Share: June-July 2005

2. Yahoo! Search 22.3% 22.5%
3. MSN Search 12.5% 12.6%
4. AOL Search 5.5% 5.4%
5. My Way Search 1.8% 2.2%

comScore Networks also published search engine use statistics in August 2005

Time Warner Network 9.9%
Ask Jeeves 6.1%
InfoSpace Network 0.9%
All Other 0.6%

Google Search Is The Search Engine Leader

Google Search is either a leader at 46.2% or 36.5%, depending which particular study is the most accurate. However, that does not exactly tell the full story. In the published studies, Time Warner Network which is made up of AOL and Netscape have either a 9.9% SEARCH SHARE stake or the other study has 7.0% combined SEARCH SHARE stake. The significance of this is that Both AOL and Netscape use Google Search for their results.

If you add up these results Google would either be at 46.4% or 53.2% of all the searches done online with the nearest competitor at 22.5% or 30.5%.

The significance of these two studies is very important from an Internet Marketing and Online Advertising perspective.

The eMail Marketing Promotions landscape is littered with INTERNET SEARCH MARKETING promises of being number one with a quick website inclusion into the smaller search engines and other types, of what some refer to as SECOND TIER search engine companies, in which they do not even show up in the study results. It makes very little sense to pay for something that at best is around 0.6% of the total searches conducted online. There is no such thing as a free lunch with promises of high traffic to your site by simply paying for quick inclusion into the search data base.

Free Website Submission

The top three Search companies have free website submit to be included in the crawls from automatic web robots which cruise the Internet and catalog the websites into their database for the natural or organic search results. Websites can even be found by the online search robots even if a website is not submitted. That is because the robots follow links from other websites and are likely to find other sites through this link process.

Privacy on The Internet

Guarding Your Online Electronic Privacy

Internet Bits of PrivacyFor those of you that do not know me, one of the things that I value more than anything else is online privacy.

I have written many business articles about online E privacy issues and content provider concerns. I would be the first to say if a service is, or has a policy of sharing of information on the Internet with others.

Many E privacy policies are extremely vague and in fact should be labeled something else other than a privacy policy.

Good E Privacy Policy

There is one service that I have come to trust with my emails and information online. That service is the Google Gmail Service. One of the things that really has stood out from them is their down-to-earth privacy policy, written in an easy to understand style with very little of the legalize that only an attorney would understand.

When I first heard about the Google Gmail Service I was very impressed with their up-front statements of how this email service works. After hearing much of the criticism from the news media I took it upon myself to do some research online comparing the privacy policies of other large content providers that offer email and other types of services. What I found was quite shocking in the way of lack of privacy with other online service providers. Many of the documents that are written are designed in my estimation to be intentionally misleading and actually are a policy for sharing information as opposed to holding it confidential.

While these other services have been around for a longer period of time I find it fascinating that no one in the mainstream media seems to question these other online policies. Could it be that there is such a double standard that exists between various news organizations and web search companies that they would actually ignore certain web search service providers that intentionally allow information to be shared with others while at the same time trying to crucify a service that is up-front with the public? Are there other egregious factors at work here?

What Does The Future Hold

Why does this double standard exist? Do people just turn a blind eye to facts? Are we just a society of non-thinkers? I would hope that we are not, but the path seems to be set for the world to sit back and just be fed whatever they want to hear and never question anything.

First off, we all write with a certain degree of prejudice. The mainstream media has a responsibility to be as fair as possible with all stories written. If the story is not a commentary but a reporting of facts then it is the responsibility of the news organization to cover both sides and report fairly. We have seen problems in the lack of responsible television and newspaper media reporting in the political arena and in fact these stories have been exposed by Blogger journalists. Blogger journalists have broken stories that others in the mainstream press have ignored or have been grossly negligent in their reporting of the facts.

The future is changing quickly. The landscape for electronic news reporting is becoming increasing explosive as we become more virtual in our gathering of information and press reporting of news stories online.

People seem to feel threatened by the unknown. Maybe traditional news media organizations feel threatened by the new way of doing business. Broadband Internet continues to impact our lives in new and profound ways. Information sources are at our fingertips that we can quickly compare the stories from different perspectives. Traditional television and print media sees a shrinking customer base along with a decline in advertisers, because of the influx of the Internet. The media giants are becoming more concerned with the direction the World Wide Web is having on their OLD business plans. They seem to see it as a threat as opposed to an opportunity to establish a NEW type of relationship with an online readership.

Secret Mitigating Factors – Follow The Money

Here are a few thoughts and questions that come to mind that could certainly be mitigating factors.

Everything really is about money. What type of business relationships do some of the traditional media outlets have with other content providers? Is it in the interest of some content providers to share information with their business affiliates? Maybe that is exactly the business agreements that are in effect. Are owners and editors at top line newspapers and television networks in bed with some of the online content providers? If so, imagine how easy it would be to encourge an overeager news reporter to write stories that are not fully accurate. These same editors and owners could just as easily squelch truthful news reporting on other issues. How much money is given by some to support certain causes and seemingly altruistic associations that are related to the big news associations? How much does politics play into the mix? Where is the online ethics in business today? What other mitigating secrets are hidden?

Yes, these are but a few of the reasons for all the news reporting today. Though some of these may be business excuses, it does not make it right. It will be interesting to see what the future holds.

Expand Market Reach Online

Successfully expand your sales and market reach. Develop new market segments by utilizing Internet marketing, search marketing, and web branding strategies and sales solutions from Professional Web Services, and PPC online advertising such as Google AdWords.

For The Business to Consumer Industry B2C

RESTON, VA, March 21, 2006comScore Networks today released results from a new research study that confirms the importance of search in influencing offline buying. The results show that 25 percent of searchers purchased an item directly related to their query, and that of those buyers, 37 percent completed their purchase online. An even greater 63 percent completed a purchase offline following their search activity.

Globalization of The Business to Business Technical Industry B2B

Your Web Site
“With 98 percent of engineers using the Internet for work and over 90 percent using it to research technical products, your company’s Web site is one of your most significant marketing vehicles for reaching your target audience.”
http://www.globalspec.com/memberlink/Your_Web_Site.pdf

Purchasing Managers, Buyers, and Purchasing Agents

Use of the Internet for finding suppliers is on the rise for Purchasing Managers, Buyers, and Purchasing Agents.

Purchasing managers, buyers, and purchasing agents evaluate suppliers based upon price, quality, service support, availability, reliability, and selection. To assist them in their search, they review catalogs, industry periodicals, directories, trade journals, and Internet sites.

Are Potential New B2B And B2C Customers Finding You Online?

The fact is more and more engineers, purchasing managers, consumers, buyers, and Small Business owners are going online to find the products and services that they need. These searches are conducted via the keywords entered into the search engines for every single industry on the plant. These keywords range on everything: from individual products, types of processes, consumer goods, business equipment, and manufacturing and fabrication services.

Niche Market Segments

By implementing targeted keyword advertisements and setting aside an Online advertising budget we can effectively target market segments and increase sales that would be very expensive to reach in the old traditional ways of advertisement spending in various engineering, print magazines, and trade journals. Or, even in the consumer market place where catalogs and direct marketing can be quite expensive as compared to online ads. Additionally the sales ROI of Online advertising can be very good compared to that of other forms from of advertisement spending such as print media, Yellow Pages, and even Tradeshows.

Pay Per Click PPC Ads

The type of online advertising I am referring to is known as Pay-Per-Click, PPC advertising and just like the name says – your account is charged when someone clicks on the ad. The ranking of the Ads displayed (position of ad on page) is based on an automatic bidding process and relevancy of the ad itself.

Local, National/International Ads Placements

As the advertiser, you have complete control on what keywords are targeted, what you are willing to pay for the cost of a click, and what your daily budget is going to be, plus being able to control where the ads are displayed; unlike the purchasing of a single placement ad through a media agency specialist for the Yellow Pages. Ads can be targeted Geographically, Locally, Nationally, And Internationally along with inclusion into affiliates and content related website networks. Maximize ROI — More than one advertising campaign can be set up at the same time to target several different industries or groups of keywords for different market segments.

Where Does The Online Advertising Click Take A Person?

The place a person is transported to is a page on a website, known as the Landing Page. The landing page is a targeted web page that has the information related to the ad itself. The page should be relevant to the topic at hand and provide an additional call to action item such as, contact us, go to another page for additional information, call us on the phone, or sign up for a Free Technical Marketing Newsletter. If the visitor follows the path set forth then this is considered a good conversion.

Importance Of Understanding A Website

A website is not like a book that you start at the beginning and read through. Most people are very specific in the type of information that they are looking for. Typically when a search is conducted, the person finding a page online is going to read the specific information on that page and any other related hyperlinks will be followed depending on what the person is interested in.

Organic Search Engine Data Results Pages

When someone does a search query on the Internet they type keywords into the search box. The natural or organic results are made up of websites that the search engine algorithms have cataloged as being the best results for that particular searched for term. Obtaining good SERPs, Search Engine Ranking Results Pages for your site involves: adding new content pages, editing and maintaining content up-to-date on older pages, adding new body text on older pages with the keywords specifically targeted to your target industries, and a host of other on site and off site variables for Help in obtaining good rankings. For an example of an off site variable that Helps with rankings would be the number and quality of websites that link back to your site or individual pages on your website.

Internet Marketing Strategies

The term Internet marketing is the field of marketing a business on the World Wide Web. This encompasses everything from keyword optimization on a website, upgrading the structural layout and underlying code design, improving text and image layout, COPYWRITING creativity, writing ads for online advertising, strategic business web branding, email marketing, creative online advertising PowerPoint presentations, and a host of other high-tech tools such as detailed videos, managing corporate blogs and producing webcasts, or implementing new Web Applications that can display engineering drawings in 3d which can provide additional insight for a potential customer.

What Is It Going To Take

To make internet marketing a success will involve substantial work from both your company and Professional Web Services.

Many times businesses have put websites together and think that is it. Other times some businesses think, we hardly get anyone visiting our website so we don’t have to worry about it. Both of these thoughts are definitely WRONG. Placing a website online is a reflection of your company. Not having information that is current can be a major turn off for potential new customers not to mention the legal liability issues of having false or misleading information online. Additionally, the reason some companies do not get any business from their websites is simply because of the lack of proper Internet marketing strategies. Many of the websites typically lack the proper foundation to begin with, and no concerted effort has been placed into developing the whole process.

Developing the website properly will take a partnership arrangement between both Professional Web Services and the client. Start with by developing a strategic marketing plan of attack after first analyzing the client’s website and online search engine exposure. Once a site is analyzed for layout and form then determine what needs to be fixed. Items such as layout and content will more than likely have to be improved by eliminating spam of certain keywords and copywriting editing to strengthen and expand upon other keyword areas. Additional content with well placed Digital Camera pictures along with detailed captions would be recommended to show some sample products and talk about generalities or Non-Proprietary specifics related to the industry market segments being targeted. Certainly being aware of non-disclosure agreements and not talking about specifics where these NDAs exist would be Legally & Ethically important to follow, including obtaining Releases for any type of OEM pictures or personally identifiable information.

An example of something from a website that is a poor reflection of the company is in the following side by side statements:

“… process of upgrading and implementing its quality manual and management system to ISO 9002 requirements. … engaging the British Standards Institute, BSI to provide guidance and registration, … anticipates certification before the end of 1999.”

While that statement made sense back in 1999 it shows that the page is quite out-of-date and should be changed or the statement removed altogether if this is not true.

Another example of something that is very poor from a search engine standpoint is a home page foundational structure with no written text. There is absolutely no body text content in the page. The whole page is little more than a graphic image which provides nothing in the way of body text content. Here is the entire actual code from a home page (slight modifications to protect privacy):

SRC=”world.jpeg” WIDTH=”520″ HEIGHT=”417″>

SRC=”aboutt.jpeg” BORDER=”0″>

HREF=”source.html”>
SRC=”sourcet.jpeg” BORDER=”0″>

HREF=”location.html”>

HREF=”qa.html”>
SRC =”qat.jpeg” BORDER=”0″>

HREF=”
mailto:invocation@needhelp.tu“>
SRC=”emailt.jpeg” BORDER=”0″>

For a person to understand what all the different terms mean is not necessary, but please do understand that what you see above is all that the search engines see. A page needs to have body text to start showing up in the search engines results pages. The background of the home page is a darksky.jpeg image and all the links are graphic image links which do very little in helping you get found online.

Costs Involved

First and foremost there will be a substantial time commitment from both a client and Professional Web Services. Time will most definitely need to be set aside for developing the new content and revision of old subject matter. Professional Web Services, Inc. will work closely with you to develop the new content and revision of the old. There will have to be brainstorming discussions of the targeted keywords and the various different market segments that you would like to target along with detailed discussions of web pages and what exactly you want to say.

Before running a PPC Online advertising campaign we would recommend developing the website properly. We would suggest setting aside an appropriate amount for the overall online advertising campaign spending, depending on the industry and current bidding of the targeted keywords. An appropriate set aside amount would provide the capabilities of running several different advertising campaigns targeting different market segments or keywords.

Redoing, revising, adding to, and maintaining the website on a monthly basis to improve the keyword quality, plus quality link building is the type of program for your business that we would recommend. We install an analytical metrics application tool embedded into a website to monitor and provide real-time data metrics for: visitor actions, pages viewed, time spent on a page, where visitors come from, and keyword analysis, while also providing access for our clients to use as an additional marketing tool. The real-time data metrics provided can be extremly helpful for improving the site layout and design, plus Online data feedback for the client.

There may be some additional recommended fees to establish a website in some online directories. This has the benefit of bringing traffic to the website as well as giving a quality link for the search engines to see.

Why Spend Money On The Website?

Go back to the quotes above. Look at the numbers of people; consumers, buyers, purchasing managers, purchasing agents, and engineers searching online. All it takes is to get a couple of orders and the site or site improvements are paid for. A new customer and new market segment can bring in thousands or hundreds of thousands of dollars annually to the bottom line.

Sales Strategies

A good website is a 24/7 x 365 days a year SALESMAN. This salesman never gets tired, no need to pay health insurance premiums on, do not have to set aside state disability insurance, and no need to pay taxes for this salesman. 14K Gold Internet Marketing Plan

How do you reach new customers, new market segments, and increase your business exposure?

Answer: With a cost effective strategic marketing and advertising plan.

During the latter days of the twentieth century manufacturing in the United States was going gang busters. Electronics circuit board manufacturing was on a boom. Circuit board companies couldn’t build the PCBs fast enough to supply the demand for all types of products. Circuit board drilling equipment was a year on backorder. Cisco Systems was building routers and switches like there was no tomorrow. Telecommunications companies were putting in their own fiber optic cables and with the dot com build-up it looked as though the growth curve would keep going. Everything was going terrific. Then the world hit Y2K which was certainly big hype but turned out to be nothing more than a little whimper. Computer programmers did their jobs before the roll-over date appeared and fixed the problems before they occurred. However, there was another problem that was unseen by a large majority of people and it affected the world as we know it.

The World As We Know It

Now it takes a 14K Gold, Internet Marketing and Online Advertising plan to get your business found globally. The days of thinking one dimensional are over. It takes a concerted creative marketing and advertising effort to reach those customers that are Internet mining for the product or services you provide.

What Sets Your Business Apart?

Think about the facts. Millions and billions of web pages are being published annually. Many of those pages have the keyword terms that your business uses. A number of those terms crossover to other areas online. Words can have multiple meanings. Usages of those words can be different for different people. Engineers can use a certain set of terms while the sales and marketing departments can use another set of terms to explain the same thing. So, how is your business going to capture your target audience?

Targeting The Keywords For Your Target Audience

The following question should always be asked before your even begin to try and do something with your website. Who is your target audience? Answering that one question is the most important foundational aspect when setting up a website. After that is answered then it is equally important to understand the lingo of how your target audience speaks. It may very well be that you are saying all the right words but not in their technical or non-technical language. If you are not talking their language then you can forget anyone finding you online for who you are targeting.

Battery Powered Vehicles

My, how have we progressed since the horse and buggy days!

New Battery Powered Vehicles

NEW BATTERY POWERED ELECTRIC SCOOTER VEHICLESIn the early days of self propelled vehicles they ran on steam. Now we have a whole new generation of self propelled vehicles using battery technology and super efficient high powered motors. A number of these electric scooter vehicles are starting to be used at large warehouses and even at car racing events for pit crews to use from one end of Pit alley to the other.

Even Detroit Automakers are trying to play catch-up to the Japanese Automakers by getting into the picture of designing hybrid cars based on battery technology. Though the leader appears to be Honda in the race for bringing top fuel efficient engines in hybrid cars to the market place.

See story at HybridCars.com

Last week, however, Honda “leaked to the Wall Street Journal its progress on developing a new type of more efficient, cleaner-burning engine: a four-cylinder gasoline engine that uses Homogeneous Charged Compression Ignition. Read full hybrid cars story

Currently the Honda Insight holds the top mileage for hybrids.

The new technology being talked about is the hydrogen fuel cell engine. The one major hang-up with hydrogen fuel cells is the fact that the fuel is more expensive to produce and store than the traditional hydrocarbons.

Maybe the next generation of vehicles will run on something that has not even been harnessed yet. I guess we will have to wait and see.

Business Marketing And Advertising Internet Empowered

Empowering Businesses With Internet Marketing, Online Advertising, And Web Branding Services Strategies and SolutionsThe Internet Is An Empowering Media Form For Customers And Businesses Alike

Take a look at how the Internet is providing a form of online customer service feedback that can both be good and bad for your business depending on the customer service you provide.

Consumer Experiences

Years ago, before the Great Expansive Web Landscape >> before the Mozilla and Internet Explorer and high-speed internet came along, a dissatisfied customer would maybe complain to management or write a letter to the President of the company about poor customer services or false advertising. Now, that has all changed. Customers that become dissatisfied are fighting back.

To be a reporter does not require going to four years at a university or getting hired by the local newspaper. No, anyone that has a beef about something is free to report it online through a free blog service. Make no mistake about this though, falsely reporting news and information can hold serious consequences for individuals online. See: Internet Ethics

With that said, people can and do document information related to businesses online all the time. In fact blogging has changed the face of how the large media giants respond to news stories. Many times the networks are slow, very slow at jumping on a breaking story and it is the blogging community that is the first to share the story online. With technology, through the form of automatic news feeds from every single blog, the story can be picked up by thousands of individuals that then turn and share more information online. Once the chronicled account is published, search engines catalog the information making it a matter of historical public record for all times sake.

Businesses, from local, national, and international companies need to be more aware of the new technology that is creating the Internet landscape Where There Is No Place To Hide

In an article written by Chuck Mckay, from his Fishing For Customers website the following is quoted:

What happens when your ads brag about your customer service, and customer dreads going on hold with your automated call center?

What happens when your customer finally understands that your “money back guarantee” is actually pro-rated for the number of weeks that she owned your product?

What happens when your angry customer makes the evening news carrying a placard which declares you to be a crook?

Where do you hide when there’s no place to hide?

From the customer service standpoint it makes sense to follow good B2B, B2C, and C2C ethical guidelines. Fraud and other different unethical activities will become exposed. It might not happen overnight but with poor customer service, fraudulent activities, advertising scams, and even copyright infringement there certainly is no place to hide online.

Empower your Business for Marketing And Advertising

Blogs are not just for individuals. In fact blogs are being used more and more for businesses everyday. I just received an email update from Google about how their AdWords blog is becoming more of a newsletter in their thinking than just some place to post thoughts and updates. Click link to read more on this perspective.

Inside AdWords

Are you thinking what I’m thinking? That, just maybe, a blog might prove to be an effective newsletter for your customers as well?

Imagine it: A place where you could easily tell your customers what’s new and interesting about your business, and where you could even show them photos of your latest collection of high fashion widgets from Paris. Perhaps you’d also like to get some useful feedback from your customers? Yep, you can do that too.

Executive Platform

This type of e-business marketing and advertising works. Customers have been sharing with me the good feedback that they are receiving from this type of executive Internet marketing and branding approach. Many times people are blocking the pictures and images that are embedded in emails, especially in an unethical age with email spam and malicious spyware viruses, but are likely to click on a link to a website to view more information. Information can be posted online for future use. Imagine being able to write a sales and marketing pitch or create an Ad for use in a Pay-Per-Click advertising campaign with a link to a posting targeted to exactly what it is that your company is advertising.

The Internet is still a baby

The interconnectivity and alliances between businesses both vertically and horizontally as well as the mix of Individuals into the broad spectrum of things online will continue to create new opportunities for new businesses, market expansion of existing companies, and the opportunities for private individuals to make a difference, shake up the world, and breath a measure of fresh air to the World Wide Web.

Flock Blogging

I’ll never forget the first time I used a browser for web navigation. It was called Mosaic and was originally loaded on my Mac PowerPC 6100 computer. Wow have Internet times changed! Now I am using a MacBook Pro.

Out of the old technology days and browsers of yesteryear web navigation came the Netscape Mozilla and Internet Explorer browsers, with others following. Now comes a brand new start-up with the attempt to turn the world upside down as far as web browsing is concerned.

Meet The Flock

Flock is a creative new browser that is doing things in a different and unique way. In fact their statement on their about page sums it up:

Who are you people, anyway?

Well, we’re pretty much a bunch of regular folks trying to shake things up.

To describe the Flock browser is difficult to do. It has interesting features that remind me a little of the Apple Safari and Firefox Mozilla Browser all rolled into one with additional features for Blogging. In fact, one area developers are targeting is Bloggers in general.

One of the features of this browser is the built-in control panel for uploading, editing, and managing the content on any blog. Additional features allow you to share bookmarks with others online. Take a look at what you can do.

Business Week had an article on this start-up company.

To really understand what you can do with this Internet Browser requires hands-on experience. Currently Flock has a download version for experimentation by developers and individuals. It still is in a development state but anyone can download it and try it out. They certainly are looking for quality feedback.

Additionally, when you download the Flock Browser you get a free WordPress Blogging account. I wanted to experiment with another blogging software and thought I would try both the software and the browser at the same time.
